Wako
Amata

Wako Amata has liked dolls since she
was a child. She was inspired while watching a television program
by Yuki Atai, a very famous doll artist. She learned his doll
making style and started making her own dolls in 1992.
Wako's dolls are inspired by images in
movies and books. She makes the doll while imagining a background
and the historical time period. The doll's face is made of La Doll
and covered in fabric. The wire body is then covered in shredded
wood stuffing. She uses Japanese cloth to clothe her dolls.
Although Kim met Wako in Florida at
IDEX 2013, Wako can be found attending many exhibitions mainly in Tokyo,
Japan.
